FAQ

DSV provides a wide range of transport options, including air freight, sea freight, and XPress deliveries. Our air freight service is ideal for time-sensitive shipments, while sea freight offers a cost-effective solution for larger volumes. For urgent deliveries, we offer XPress services, ensuring priority handling for the fastest transit times.

Air freight to and from India typically takes 2-3 days for direct shipments, depending on the chosen route and the speed of customs clearance. Including pick-up and delivery services, the total transit time can extend to 4–5 days. Sea freight via European ports such as Rotterdam or Antwerp to or from major Indian ports like Nhava Sheva has an average transit time of 50 days. Routes to other ports, such as Chennai, Mundra, or Bangalore, may take slightly longer, depending on local handling conditions. DSV offers advanced track-and-trace capabilities, allowing you to monitor your shipments in real time and always stay informed about their status.

For transport to India, you typically need a commercial invoice detailing the goods and their value, along with a packing list providing an overview of the shipment's contents. Depending on the goods, a certificate of origin may also be required to verify their origin. Additionally, you must have a Bill of Lading (B/L) or an Air Waybill (AWB), depending on the chosen transport method.
India enforces strict customs regulations with specific import duties and tax rates. For certain goods, such as pharmaceuticals, food items, or hazardous materials, additional permits or certificates may be necessary. Our team supports you in complying with all local regulations, ensuring your shipment is processed smoothly through customs.

The costs depend on various factors such as the size and weight of the shipment, as well as the chosen transport method. Please contact us for a tailored quote.

Key seaports include Mumbai (Nhava Sheva), Chennai, and Kolkata. For air freight, we use airports such as Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), and Kempegowda International Airport (Bangalore). With our presence in these major logistics hubs, we can provide fast and efficient transport solutions.

India is a vast country with diverse terrains, ranging from mountain regions in the north to remote villages in the southern and eastern parts of the country. Transporting goods to these areas can be challenging due to limited infrastructure, such as poor road conditions or inadequate access to modern transport facilities.
DSV leverages an extensive local network and specialized partners to address logistical challenges in remote areas. We offer flexible solutions, including multimodal transport and last-mile deliveries, to ensure your goods arrive safely and on time at their destination.
