FAQ

DSV provides a range of transport solutions, including air freight, sea freight, and XPress deliveries. Air freight is the best option for time-sensitive shipments, while sea freight offers a cost-effective solution for large volumes. For urgent deliveries, we offer XPress services, where shipments are prioritized for maximum expedited transit times.

Air freight to Canada typically takes 2 to 6 days, depending on the airline, specific route, and customs clearance speed. Direct flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) offer the fastest deliveries. Shipments routed through international hubs like Frankfurt or Chicago may take longer due to additional customs checks and transshipment processes.

Sea freight from Rotterdam or Antwerp to major Canadian ports such as Montreal, Vancouver, and Halifax generally take 20 to 40 days, depending on the exact shipping route, weather conditions, and potential transshipment stops. The Port of Montreal serves as a key gateway for goods moving further into Canada and the United States, benefiting from efficient rail and road connections.

DSV offers both FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) sea freight solutions and collaborates with leading shipping lines and airlines to ensure efficient and reliable transport routes. With DSV’s advanced track & trace solutions, you can monitor your shipments in real time, providing full visibility into their location and transit progress.

Transport costs to and from Brazil vary based on volume, weight, chosen shipping method, and applicable import duties. Additional factors such as fuel surcharges, seasonal rate fluctuations, and port or airport fees may also influence the final price. Shipping to Canada generally requires a commercial invoice, packing list, Bill of Lading (B/L) or Air Waybill (AWB), and, depending on the goods, a certificate of origin. Certain product categories, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products, may be subject to additional permits and strict regulations enforced by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other government authorities. DSV provides expert customs clearance support to ensure your shipment complies with all Canadian import regulations and reaches its destination without delays.

For sea freight, the key ports are Montreal, Vancouver, and Halifax, which offer direct connections to Europe and Asia. For air freight, we use Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). These airports provide fast cargo handling and strong connections to the U.S. and other global markets. With our presence in these major logistics hubs, we ensure fast and efficient transport solutions.

Extreme winter conditions, such as snowstorms, ice, and low temperatures, can cause delays in air, road, and rail transport between November and March, particularly in northern and remote areas.

Air freight via airports like Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR), and Montreal (YUL) may experience disruptions due to flight cancellations or delays. Sea freight can be affected by frozen waterways, especially in the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes, potentially causing extended transit times. Road transport may be impacted by icy roads, road closures, and limited accessibility.

DSV provides flexible transport routes, proactive updates, and alternative logistics solutions to minimize delays. We advise customers to plan for additional transit time during the winter months.
