We never let our eye off the ball
DSV is a specialist in the shipment of live animals
It takes special skills to ride a polo horse – and polo is a sport which is increasingly popular in India.
What’s more, it takes special skills to arrange their transport, and especially their customs and quarantine clearance, when a customer needs horses imported at short notice.
Live animals can’t be left in a container on the quayside, nor in a warehouse at an airport. The logistics have to be planned precisely and everyone involved briefed in advance and standing by at exactly the right moment. DSV’s customer, Abigail Slater, tasked DSV with the urgent and sensitive task of flying three polo horses from Malaysia to India. DSV’s experts gladly took on the challenge, arranging the complex veterinary paperwork needed – and not least the preparations for receiving the horses at Delhi airport in the middle of the night.
I was extremely impressed with DSV’s knowledge of the procedures, and the efficient and skilled way their staff kept me informed and made sure everything went to plan.

DSV made sure the horses were allowed onto the plane in Kuala Lumpur, was ready with staff to transfer them to customs and quarantine in Delhi and arranged all import and quarantine certifications.
We held conference calls with Malaysia, Singapore and India to get all the documentation done in less than a day. And when the plane landed at 1 am, the horses were cleared in record time – just three hours.
