Elizabeth Arden
Elizabeth Arden has worked continually to create a reliable, carefully planned and easily overseen supply chain.
Beauty and luxury have always been about creating a perfect moment in time. In order to get to that point, Elizabeth Arden has much more mundane concerns. It must move its delicate fragrances and beauty care products to market all over the world.
That is why Elizabeth Arden has worked continually to create a reliable, carefully planned and easily overseen supply chain.
And an important step has been to centralize control and execution of operations, thereby enabling more oversight and better metrics for the entire transport process.
This has not always been the case: In a less mature system, a number of subcontractors typically work locally, only linked together as a logistics system by ad-hoc arrangements and sheer human effort.
Finding a strong partner
A first step was to find a partner that could perform all logistics activities in Europe, The Middle East and Africa related to goods movements. These range from inbound road transport, container (de-)consolidation, outbound transport to all retail stores, customs administration and invoice audits.
When choosing us as its logistics partner, Elizabeth Arden was very impressed by the involvement of senior management and the specific knowledge we brought to the table about the Elizabeth Arden world of fragrances and beauty care.
"DSV demonstrated a thorough understanding of our requirements and an approach in line with our strategy. It has been a very pleasant experience to work with their knowledgeable team."

Establishing a control tower
The second step is to set up a logistics control tower overseeing operations. After thorough research and negotiation, a control tower operation is being set up in France.
The system is a variant of the 4PL concept. We will be Elizabeth Arden's logistics department making use of both the DSV network and third party services. In the model we have created, DSV executes a substantial part of the transport activities to provide Elizabeth Arden with a single European partner.
"We are delighted to start working for a prestigious brand like Elizabeth Arden. The agreement takes advantage of the combined services that we provide in France and we are excited about the challenge," says Vincent Merletti, Managing Director, DSV France.
