Pia D. Laugesen

Project Manager, Group Project Management Office - Denmark

From a young age, Pia dreamt of becoming a freight forwarder. She has always seen this choice of career as her calling and put all her energy into making that dream come true. Her determination paved the way to Samson Transport, which was later acquired by DSV, starting her career in the transport and logistics industry as a trainee.

International working environment

After Pia’s apprenticeship, she became part of the Denmark/France road department, and as a very ambitious person, Pia wanted to make her mark and see the world. This led to her being sent to Paris for an assignment, which was a fantastic experience that left her with a strong network worth its weight in gold in her daily work, both during her relocation to France and after having returned to Denmark.

Since her stationing, Pia has held various roles, and throughout her career, leadership has been a common denominator in her different positions. From early on, she has been managing tasks and teams.

To see people grow and develop is the ultimate achievement in my daily work life. It drives me to be part of creating the best possible conditions, good settings and effective optimisation opportunities for my colleagues, so they can be the best version of themselves – which ultimately affects our customer relations. Bringing out the best in each other and being good team players mean a lot to me.”

From local to global role

After several years of being part of our local operational departments, Pia was propelled by a desire to work with our business, systems and setups from a broader perspective. In general, she has a passion for improving things for the better where she sees a need for it, aiming to and work smarter.

Combined with her international perspective and curiosity for working with different cultures, Pia went from being the local expert to getting into deep water as part of our global Business Change Management (BCM) team. Here, she was involved in a large transformation project and responsible for handling the change process for some of our largest global customers.

I love improving the way we do things, following new trends and being at the cutting edge with the right resources at the right time. It means a lot to me to have colleagues who enjoy their work and are doing what they are good at. Personally, I feel a need for contributing wherever I can, and if I have something on my mind, I want to participate actively.

Endless possibilities for learning and growth

Pia has no doubt that her long history and several learnings within DSV is a major advantage in her work today:

My many years in the operations has given me in-depth knowledge about the “DSV machinery”, while my time in BCM has provided me with unique insights into the thoughts and strategy behind: how we reach the decisions we make, what underlies these decisions and how we connect things across our business”.

During her time as a Business Change Manager, Pia completed a project management course, which led her to her current role as Project Manager in our Group Project Management Office team. Today, she continues to work on large, global projects and keeps challenging the status quo. Pia attributes her career development to the great settings and open environment at DSV:

“If you are open to challenges, want to explore new things and seize the chances you are given, the opportunities for development and personal growth in DSV are endless. DSV is much more than just transport and logistics – it has given me the drive to challenge my own abilities and a desire to contribute with the aim of improving conditions for my colleagues, for our customers and for our organisation
