It’s become an annual tradition – Arbodania-Collet calls DSV and asks us to arrange their Christmas tree logistics.
DSV is a partner that’s really flexible. And they have enough trucks to help us deliver masses of trees in a very short time
                                                                                                                       Michael Schnor, CEO of Arbodania-Collet

Arbodania-Collet generates 70% of its annual turnover in a four-week period, and that demands a flexible, well-run transport supplier. Christmas is not a deadline that anyone can move. Transport time and weather conditions play a crucial role in getting the Christmas trees to market.

Once the trees have been loaded onto pallets, they can survive for a week or so in humid air. But as soon as the pallets are loaded into trucks, there is no longer enough air circulation. That restricts the transit time to just five days.

November has been relatively warm at Arbodania-Collet’s plantation in Denmark this year – up to 15C. That has meant extra special planning to avoid the trees losing their needles too soon. So the trees are cut down at the very last minute before being loaded into trucks, something which needs close coordination with DSV to get 600 truckloads delivered all over Europe in time.

About Arbodania-Collet

The company’s plantation in Denmark covers 1100 hectares, the size of an airport, and is one of Europe’s largest plantations producing Christmas trees.
