Empowering youth through VUKA rugby 

Through our sponsorship of the South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA), DSV is proud to support the VUKA sustainable rugby programme, a vital partnership with the South African Rugby Union (SARU). This programme aims to bring structured rugby training and competition to young players from disadvantaged communities, many of whom have been excluded from these opportunities in the past.

At DSV, we recognise the transformative power of sports in shaping young lives. By supporting SARLA's rugby development projects, we are nurturing the athletic and personal growth of talented youngsters aged 15-17. Through regular coaching and participation in regional tournaments, these players gain the skills, confidence and sense of belonging needed to excel both on and off the field. Ultimately, our goal is to create pathways for these young athletes to progress to professional levels, thereby uplifting individuals and communities.

This partnership is part of DSV's broader commitment to youth development in South Africa. Alongside the Learnership Programme, which has successfully placed over 1,900 learners in the last 18 years, and the DSV Empowerment Trust, which has awarded over 1,098 bursaries to black youth since 2005, we continue to invest in initiatives that foster opportunity, growth, and success for South Africa's future leaders. Supporting SARLA's rugby prorgamme is one way DSV is helping to build a stronger, more inclusive South Africa.
